Seven terrorists killed in separate operations in KP, Balochistan: ISPR

Security forces killed seven terrorists in separate operations on Monday, with one terrorist killed in Balochistan and the other six killed during two operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said. “In the wee hours of Monday, six khawarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province,” said a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). “An intelligence-based operation was conducted by Security Forces in general area Dosali, North Waziristan District,” the press release said. “During conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khawarij’s location, resultantly one kharji Ahmed Shah Intizar was sent to hell.” In the second incident, the ISPR said that a group of *khawarij“ were attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border when they were intercepted by security forces in Khamrang, in KP’s South Waziristan District. “Own troops effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate,” the pre

ECC okays circular debt management plan

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Monday okayed the Circular Debt Management Plan for fiscal year 2024-25 and a sale purchase agreement between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and SOCAR Azerbaijan for the supply of POL products. Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb chaired the meeting in which several other key agenda items were discussed and decided, a press statement issued here read. The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) submitted the Circular Debt Management Plan for FY 2024-25. The ECC approved the plan, which aims to reduce liabilities in the power sector and enhance financial sustainability. KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori on Sunday revealed that Karachi traders have shown interest in acquiring Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), ARY News reported. Speaking with ARY News, Tessori said that the Karachi traders have discussed the development of the PIA privatization process with him. “The traders in Karachi want the PIA to be handed to them for a year. They are serious about launching a new airline,” the Sindh Governor added. According to Kamran Tessori, he proposed naming the new airline ‘PK,’ representing Pakistan and Karachi, respectively. F1 Drivers’ Championship leader Max Verstappen won a chaotic, rain-lashed Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday, roaring back from 17th on the grid to reignite his push for a fourth successive world title. Dolphin Ayan leaked video case: Police carry out raid to arrest suspects

PESHAWAR: Police on Sunday carried out a raid to arrest the suspects involved in filming and leaking an obscene video of transgender person Dolphin Ayan, ARY News reported, citing police. An official of Peshawar police said that the action was taken jointly with Shabqadar police to apprehend the suspects. The police force raided as many as four hideouts of the suspects who allegedly filmed the obscene video of Dolphin Ayan last year and used it for blackmailing and extortion. Meanwhile, Peshawar police expressed resolve to arrest the suspects involved in harassing and blackmailing the transgender person. It is worth mentioning here that, in a first in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dolphin Ayan registered a case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 for harassment and blackmail of a transgender person. ISLAMABAD: As PTI founding chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer Intezar Hussain Panjutha was recovered on Saturday night, the party labelled the development as scripted and called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the matter. The PTI also demanded that an FIR be filed against the attorney general, who claimed in the high court that Mr Panjutha would be produced in court within 24 hours, suggesting he was aware of his whereabouts. It is worth mentioning that the PTI leader was recovered by police in Attock as he was allegedly being transported by his kidnappers. Police later shifted him to hospital. ATTOCK: The Attock police recovered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawyer Intizar Punjutha, who had been missing since October, from GT Road, Attock, ARY News reported. According to police, the law enforcers signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop on the GT Road but it refused, leading to a brief standoff. The police chased and intercepted the car on which the kidnappers fled, abandoning their vehicle and hostage. Intezar Panjhota, a senior lawyer who has also represented PTI in different cases, has been rescued by the police. The police said that efforts are being made to arrest the culprits. Meanwhile, visibly unwell Intizar Punjutha has been shifted to hospital for medical treatment. ISLAMABAD: The Lawyers Action Committee announced to hold a referendum against passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, deeming it a ‘threat’ to democracy and judicial independence, ARY News reported.
