Pakistan sends another tranche of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has handed over three more trucks loaded with relief goods to Afghanistan as part of its efforts to avert the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country, ARY News reported. 193 dengue cases reported in KP in a day

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has continued to report a spike in dengue fever cases as 193 new cases of mosquito-borne fever cases were reported during the last 24 hours, ARY News reported on Sunday. According to a report issued by KP Directorate General Health Services, the death toll due to dengue fever in the province stands at eight. The province has so far reported 6,803 dengue cases, whereas, the number of active cases stood at 1,462. Saudi banks start updating payments’ system for 3-month renewal of iqamas

RIYADH: Saudi banks have started updating their government payments system for the issuance and renewal of residency permits (iqamas) that are linked to work permits for a minimum period of three months. The payments of iqama fee can be made on a quarterly or half-yearly basis following the recently updated government payments system. The updation will facilitate the completion of procedures for the issuance and renewal of iqamas for the required period through the online platforms of Absher Business, Muqeem, and Qiwa under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. Following the recent amendments in the government payment system, Saudi banks will accept the payment of the fee for the work permit by the employer for a minimum period of three months or multiples of six months, nine months or a whole year. COVID-19 infects another 213 in Sindh

KARACHI: One more patient of coronavirus died overnight in Sindh province, lifting the death toll to 7,568, ARY News reported. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement said that one more patient of COVID-19 died in past 24 hours, lifting the death toll to 7,568 that constituted a 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 10,991 samples were tested which detected 213 cases that constituted 1.9 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 6,417,533 tests have been conducted against which 469,183 cases were diagnosed, of them 95.9 percent or 449,943 patients have recovered, including 544 overnight. The CM said that currently, 11,672 patients were under treatment, of them 11,432 were in home isolation, 25 at isolation centers and 215 at different hospitals. PIA approached to trace passenger who left mobile phones at Peshawar airport

One killed, four injured in Islamabad gas leak blast

ISLAMABAD: At least one person was killed and four others sustained injuries in a massive explosion due to a gas leak at residential flats in Islamabad’s Sector H-13, ARY News reported. According to police, one person died on the spot while four other people including women were critically injured due to a gas explosion. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. Lahore trader attacked over refusal to pay Rs5mn extortion

LAHORE: Unidentified men opened fire at the residence of a trader in Lahore after refusing to pay extortion of Rs5 million as police had launched a probe into the matter, ARY NEWS reported. NBP assures customers' financial data not compromised, systems repaired following cyberattack

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) assured on Sunday that customers' financial data has not been compromised and "has remained protected, confidential and secured", following a cyberattack on its IT infrastructure on night of Oct 29. In a tweet on Friday, the State Bank of Pakistan had said that the NBP had "reported a cyber security related incident which is being investigated." Subsequently, the NBP had issued a statement saying, “In the late hours of the 29th and early morning of the 30th October, a cyberattack on the NBP’s servers was detected which impacted some of its services." In its latest statement on the situation, the NBP said it had countered the threats and repaired the affected parts of its systems and that "banking services including ATMs and the disbursement of salaries and pensions" will be possible on Nov 1. TLP agreement: Containers being removed from River Jhelum bridges, GT road

JHELUM: The government has started removing containers from bridges over River Jhelum which was dubbed as the last defence line to stop the Islamabad marchers and GT Road following an agreement with outlawed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), ARY NEWS reported. KARACHI: A cyberattack on the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has been detected that has disrupted its services which are likely to be restored by Monday, said a statement issued by the bank on Saturday. “In the late hours of the 29th and early morning of the 30th October, a cyberattack on the NBP’s servers was detected which impacted some of its services,” said the statement. KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Saturday announced the bourse will revert to the old trading system — called Karachi Automated Trading System (KATS) — from Monday, November 1, ARY News reported. FIA arrests suspect allegedly involved in unblocking NICs, issuing passports

KARACHI: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) human trafficking cell has arrested a prime suspect allegedly involved in unblocking the national identity card (NIC) and managing the issuance of passports, ARY NEWS reported. According to FIA officials, a Bangladeshi national identified as Sarwar Hussain, who leads a gang, has been arrested for allegedly unblocking NICs of Bangladeshi nationals. The officials said that he used to take hefty sums against managing the issuance of Pakistani passports to Bangladeshi nationals. “The suspect received Rs135,000 from a citizen,” the FIA said adding that it led to unearthing the entire gang. The NADRA has also seized the CNIC of Sarwar under the confirmed alien category rule. A case has also been registered against him and other members of his group by the anti-human trafficking cell as raids have also been carried out to arrest other suspects of the gang.
