Pakistan, rise in financial losses, first half of financial year

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has issued the economic report for the first six months of the current fiscal year, revealing a 2.3 percent increase in financial losses, reaching a surplus of Rs. 1.812 trillion, ARY News reported on Monday.

In comparison, during the same period last year, the financial loss was recorded at 2 percent. The report highlights an improved fundamental balance, reaching a surplus of Rs. 1.812 trillion.

The report revealed that the defense expenditures witnessed a significant surge, rising by 19 percent and reaching a total of Rs. 758 billion, meanwhile, the loan provision of Pakistan reached Rs 4.22 trillion with an increase of 64 percent.

Additionally, the petroleum revenues showed a substantial increase, rising by 166 percent to reach Rs. 473 billion.

According to the report, the federal tax revenue experienced a 30 percent growth, totaling Rs. 4.469 trillion. Meanwhile, provincial tax revenue saw a 20 percent increase, reaching Rs. 365 billion.

The budget deficit was reported at Rs. 1.799 trillion, fully covered by domestic loans, with Rs. 442 billion obtained through external loans.

Karachi police to probe DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son’s viral firing videos

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar ordered an inquiry after Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) East Azfar Mahesar’s son Asher’s aerial firing videos went viral on social media, ARY News reported. Earlier, video footage showed DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son brandishing different kinds of weapons and resorting to aerial firing in several videos posted on social media. Asher was seen in different locations, sometimes in a moving car, relentlessly conducting aerial firing. CJCSC addresses participants of 53rd PN Staff Course

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Thursday visited Pakistan Navy War College Lahore and addressed the participants of the 53rd PN Staff Course. According to a press statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the CJCSC expressed his views on the armed forces’ efforts in confronting the multifaceted conventional and non-conventional challenges. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza said that the Pakistan Navy has always fulfilled the expectations for the protection of maritime borders. “The Pakistan Navy has a proud history of bravery and sacrifices for the motherland,” the CJCSC added.
