Star Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam on Wednesday set another record by becoming the quickest to score 10,000 runs in Twenty20 (T20) cricket.

Babar Azam reached the milestone during his knock for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) fixture against the Karachi Kings at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. It took 271 innings for Pakistan’s former all-format skipper to score 10,000 runs in the format. 

The previous record of 285 innings was held by prolific West Indies batter Chris Gayle. India’s Virat Kohli is the third fastest with 299 innings. 

Apart from Babar Azam, Chris Gayle (West Indies) along with Shoaib Malik (Pakistan), Kieron Pollard (West Indies), Alex Hales (England), David Warner (Australia), Virat Kohli (India), Aaron Finch (Australia), Rohit Sharma (India), Jos Buttler (England), Colin Munro (England), James Vince (England), and David Miller (South Africa) have scored 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.

It is pertinent to mention that Babar Azam became first batter to score 3,000 runs in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) during Peshawar Zalmi’s fixture against Quetta Gladiators.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. He said that all the necessary resources and facilities had been provided for the digital gateway initiative. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks. The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project has faced many delays due to the risk of US sanctions on Iran. The project remains substantially delayed. While the Iranian section of the pipeline has been completed, the Pakistani section remains under construction and subject to delays owing to concerns with regard to the US sanctions on Iran.
