CJCSC addresses participants of 53rd PN Staff Course

CJCSC PN Staff Course

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Thursday visited Pakistan Navy War College Lahore and addressed the participants of the 53rd PN Staff Course.

According to a press statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the CJCSC expressed his views on the armed forces’ efforts in confronting the multifaceted conventional and non-conventional challenges.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza said that the Pakistan Navy has always fulfilled the expectations for the protection of maritime borders.

“The Pakistan Navy has a proud history of bravery and sacrifices for the motherland,” the CJCSC added.

Earlier upon arrival, General Sahir Shamshad Mirzaki was welcomed by Commander Rear Admiral Azhar Mahmood. On the occasion, the CJCSC also laid floral wreaths and offered Fateha at the martyr’s monument.

Earlier on April 18, Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Metin Gürak called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at Joint Staff Headquarters, Rawalpindi

During the meeting, matters related to enhancing the level and scope of bilateral military engagements and cooperation were discussed. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to forge deeper strategic ties.

The dignitary lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. Earlier, upon arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented ‘Guard of Honour’ to the visiting dignitary.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks. The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project has faced many delays due to the risk of US sanctions on Iran. The project remains substantially delayed.
