The attack occurred on Saturday while Haji Ashraf Munyar was travelling to her daughter residing in Kalyan. ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari formed a four-member committee for the conversion of three imported coal-based Independent Power Procedures (IPPs) to Thar coal. According to a notification issued, the secretary of power division would lead the committee while other members included CSO K-Electric Shahab Qadir, Shamsuddin Sheikh, and Director General (Thermal) PPIB Ali Nawaz. The committee has been tasked with coordinating with IPPs and other stakeholders to provide joint bankable technical and financial feasibility studies for plant conversion to Thar coal. The four-member committee has also been directed to examine the logistics of moving coal from the Thar mines to the project locations; evaluate and advise the government on the best course of action and, if practical, create an implementation plan. QUETTA: A truck driver who survived the recent attack in Musakhel, has shared his harrowing experience and how he escape the attack, ARY News reported on Monday. ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Wednesday dissolved the boards of four power distribution companies commonly known as Discos as recommended by the cabinet committee, ARY News reported citing sources. The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises earlier approved the dissolution of the boards of nine government-run power distribution companies. According to the sources, new boards have been formed for nine out of 11 government-owned power distribution companies. The new boards have been formed for Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO), Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO). The sources said that the new boards will be in place for three years. The Lahore police registered a case on Tuesday after the staff of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) and the Young Doctors Association (YDA) alleged that a five-year-old girl was raped on the facility’s premises. The protest was led by Punjab YDA President Dr Shoaib Niazi and Dr Azam Saeed, president of the YDA’s chapter for the hospital. The demonstration was also joined by the staff and students of the hospital as well as the Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU). ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of heavy and intense rainfall across the country in the next 24 to 48 hours, raising concerns about potential urban flooding in major cities. The NDMA has alerted all relevant departments to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. According to the advisory, there is a significant risk of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Sialkot.
