Tourist family attacked, hotel staff, drivers, Nathia Gali

ABBOTTABAD: A tourist family from Peshawar was reportedly attacked by hotel employees and local drivers at Nathia Gali, located in the Abbottabad District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), ARY News reported on Saturday.

The incident went viral on Social media platforms showing that the hotel employees and local drivers attacked the tourist family’s car with stones and sticks.

The situation was later defused by the local police intervention.

According to reports, the altercation began with a dispute between the tourist family and a van driver.

The situation escalated when hotel employees and drivers joined in, leading to a violent confrontation. The police intervened and managed to bring the situation under control.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) confirmed that the hotel owners have settled the matter by compensating the family with Rs. 80,000.

Authorities are investigating the case to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks. The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project has faced many delays due to the risk of US sanctions on Iran. The project remains substantially delayed.
