Federal employees to protest outside parliament on Sep 14

Islamabad: Federal government employees have announced to stage a grand sit-in outside the parliament house on September 14 demanding fulfilment of their demands, ARY News reported.  According to details, the sit-in would be led by the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGPGA). The AGPGA has said that the sit-in would continue until their demands are fulfilled. The employees have demanded a 100% increase in house rent, medical and conveyance allowances and to permanent daily wages and contracted and Adhoc employees. The employees have complained about the disparity in salaries and non-provision of executive allowance and demanded an increase of 150% according to the Pay and Pension commission’s reports. The State Minister for Interior had informed the PM regarding the employees’ grievances. KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced to stage a sit-in outside the office of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Karachi to protest against the postponement of the Sindh Local Government (LG) polls, ARY News reported on Wednesday. JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced that the political party will hold a sit-in outside ECP office on August 26, Friday to protest against the Sindh LG polls’ postponement. While addressing a sit-in at Shahrah-e-Quaideen today, he said that the rulers were still doing politics on citizens’ rights despite Sindh and Balochistan province are drowning in flash floods. Sindh govt requests deployment of Army amid heavy rainfall, floods

Sindh Government on Tuesday wrote a letter to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to deploy the Armed Forces in aid of civil administration for relief and rescue operations in Sindh, ARY News reported. According to details, the Director of Operations of the Sindh Government has written a letter to the NDMA to deploy Armed Forces in Flood-affected areas of Sindh. The government has demanded the deployment of the Armed forces to aid the civil administration in relief and rescue operations, the letter said. ‘It is requested that the armed forces may kindly be approached to coordinate with the Authority/DDMA for further deployment of troops,’ the letter read. The letter urges the NDMA to treat the matter as ‘most urgent’  in the larger public interest. 12 more dead as Balochistan reels from rains floods

Quetta: Five more people have been reported dead amid heavy rains and floods in Balochistan, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported. According to details, PDMA told on Tuesday that five more people were reported dead amid heavy rains and floods in the province taking the tally to 230. A total of 110 men, 55 women, and 65 children have lost their lives to floods and related incidents in Balochistan. The recent eight deaths have been reported in the last 48 hours in the Jafaerabad area of Balochistan. Moreover, 98 people suffered injuries due to floods in the past three days. A total of 107,377 cattle have also been reported dead in the floods, PDMA data shows. A total of 26,897 homes were damaged and 7,267 homes were demolished in the recent rains and floods in the province.
