Pakistan calls for immediate cease-fire in Gaza

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan has called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, ARY News reported. Speaking in ARY News programme “Sawal Yeh Hai”, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan is in contact with OIC countries regarding the escalation in Gaza. She said that war is not a solution to any problem, only talks can solve the current crisis in Gaza after the Israeli attacks. More than 2,200 Palestinians have been killed during Israel’s aerial offensive on Gaza, while Israel lost 1,300 people in Hamas’ attacks. On Friday,  UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres  said it would be “impossible” for civilians in Gaza to comply with the evacuation order without devastating humanitarian consequences. UN issues urgent call for civilians’ protection amid Gaza escalation

As Israel’s military prepares for a ground assault on Gaza, UNRWA, the UN Palestine refugee agency, issued an urgent call on Saturday for Israel to protect all civilians sheltering in the enclave. The statement came as the Israeli-imposed deadline for some 1.1 million civilians to leave the northern part of Gaza, ahead of what is expected to be a major advance into Gaza by Israeli ground forces, expired. “UNRWA shelters in Gaza and northern Gaza are no longer safe. This is unprecedented,” said the statement. ECP suspends registration of political party

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the registration of former army chief Pervez Musharraf late’s political party, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), ARY News reported on Friday. The ECP suspended the registration of the APML – the political party founded by former army chief Pervez Musharraf late – in a case related to the intra-party elections and allotment of election symbol. Following the ECP’s decision, APML was removed from the political parties list. A 14-page written verdict was issued by a three-member bench headed by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja today. Pakistan witnesses cotton output increase by 126%

ISLAMABAD: Federal Committee on Agriculture (FCA) on Wednesday was informed that cotton output during the season 2023-24 witnessed a bumper increase of 126.6 per cent and crop production was provisionally estimated at 11.8 million bales as it cultivated over 2.4 million hectares. The FCA met under the chairmanship of Caretaker Minister for National Food Security & Research Dr Kauser Abdullah Malik, whereas it was also attended by S.M. Tanveer, Minister for Agriculture, Punjab and Asif Rafiq, Minister for Agriculture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a press release. The committee reviewed the performance of the Kharif Crops (2023-24) and the production plan for Rabi crops (2023-24), besides discussing the situation of inputs during the upcoming season.
