KARACHI: The All Private Schools Management Association Sindh (APSMA) has announced the opening of all schools in the city on Friday. In a circular to the education institutions, the association denied receiving any notification from the Sindh government, directing the closure of schools amid heavy rains in the city. “It is to inform that all private schools in Karachi will remain open tomorrow, Friday, August 22,” the circular read. According to the association, the provincial government has not issued any notification regarding the closure of schools amid improving weather conditions in the city. Citing the lack of an official notification, the APSMA has urged the managements of schools to continue its academic activities while ensuring the safety of the students, teachers and the staff. LAHORE: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has denied allegations that the Punjab government was involved in the alleged abduction of Aleema Khan’s son, Shahrez Khan. Responding to accusations made by Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Rana Sanaullah said, “Until proven, these are mere allegations, terming the claims ‘unfounded and politically motivated.’ The adviser clarified that the Punjab Police Chief has denied any arrest or involvement of law enforcement officials in the incident. KARACHI: In the response to Karachi’s severe monsoon spell, which saw over 100 mm of rainfall across large areas of the city, K-Electric (KE) showed operational continuity by preserving electricity supply and quickly initiating restoration efforts despite partial flooding and traffic crowding. Karachi power restoration efforts continued undeterred despite significant waterlogging and congestion. Areas with high levels of stagnant water, particularly in low-lying zones, were particularly affected due to restricted access and safety risks for residents and field teams. Despite these challenges that saw around 800 out of over 2,100 feeders facing outage during the peak of the rain spell, KE teams remained deployed, prioritising restoration work as soon as conditions permitted.
