ECP announces schedule for NA 33 Hangu by-polls

NA 33 Hangu, ECP, Election Commission of Pakistan, Islamabad

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday, issued the schedule for the by-election in NA 33 Hangu.

According to a press release by the ECP, the polling for the vacant national assembly seat would be held on April 10, 2022.

The deadline for submission of nomination papers is March 3, and scrutiny of the nomination papers would be completed by March 8.

The ECP would allot electoral symbols to contenders by March 19.

The national assembly seat was vacated after the demise of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Khayal Zaman.

Karachi police to probe DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son’s viral firing videos

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar ordered an inquiry after Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) East Azfar Mahesar’s son Asher’s aerial firing videos went viral on social media, ARY News reported. Earlier, video footage showed DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son brandishing different kinds of weapons and resorting to aerial firing in several videos posted on social media. Asher was seen in different locations, sometimes in a moving car, relentlessly conducting aerial firing. Speaking to ARY News, Lanjar said that he has ordered Karachi police to do a forensic examination of the videos and initiate action against DIG Mahesar if he is found guilty in the case. CJCSC addresses participants of 53rd PN Staff Course

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Thursday visited Pakistan Navy War College Lahore and addressed the participants of the 53rd PN Staff Course. According to a press statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the CJCSC expressed his views on the armed forces’ efforts in confronting the multifaceted conventional and non-conventional challenges. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza said that the Pakistan Navy has always fulfilled the expectations for the protection of maritime borders. “The Pakistan Navy has a proud history of bravery and sacrifices for the motherland,” the CJCSC added.
