Lahore: Son mercilessly stabs mother to death, stages fake robbery

Lahore: A young boy has confessed to murdering his mother amid doubts over her character, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to the details, the 18-year-old boy also tried to stage a fake robbery after stabbing his mother to death.

The boy had claimed that a dacoit had killed her mother after she tried to resist the robbery, the police said. 

Superintendent of Police Cant Lahore has said that the boy named Hassan killed his mother because he had doubts about her character. SP Esa Sukhera told the press that the boy used a sharp knife to murder his middle-aged mother.

The SP added told that Hassan, who confessed to the killing, had tried to stage a fake robbery to avoid being sentenced for the cold-blooded murder of his mother.

A murder case has been registered against the boy, while further investigations are underway, the SP Cant said.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks.
