KARACHI: Karachi citizens have caught two armed street criminals in Bahadurabad and subjected them to torture before handing them over to police, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Two armed street criminals equipped with a pistol and knife were looting citizens in the busy marketplace of the Bahadurabad area in Karachi. The locals resisted the robbery on the scene and managed to catch the street criminals.

A citizen took the knife from one of the dacoit’s hands and stabbed his neck. The dacoits failed to flee from the scene after being surrounded by a large group of locals.

The citizens tortured the dacoits before handing them over to the police officials.

An affected citizen told the media that the criminals were snatching valuables from him. The dacoits were equipped with a gun and a knife. A local came in after witnessing the robbery and stabbed the dacoit after taking the knife from his possession.

Police officials shifted the wounded dacoit to the hospital and started an investigation into the robbery incident.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks. The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project has faced many delays due to the risk of US sanctions on Iran. The project remains substantially delayed.
