Former Pakistan cricketer and Afghanistan’s current bowling coach Umar Gul’s wife Dr Mariam Naqsh made a strange request from her husband.

Umar Gul expressed delight over Afghanistan’s qualification in Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022.

“Another thriller from the boys,” his tweet read. “Magnificent all round performances by each of the players with some amazing fielding takes us to the Super 4. Super proud of this team. Just a few more games to win InshaAllah.”

His wife asked him to not let his side come on too strong against Babar Azam-led side if they meet in a fixture.

“Pakistan k khilaf zara haat hola rakhna coach saab (Please don’t let the side come on strong against Pakistan, Mr. Coach), her tweet read.

Afghanistan qualified for the Super 4 stage following their wins over Bangladesh and Hong Kong. India reached the top four stage after beating Pakistan and Hong Kong.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will look to qualify for the Super 4 stage when the play each other on September 1. Pakistan and Hong Kong will look to do the same in their fixture the following day.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. He said that all the necessary resources and facilities had been provided for the digital gateway initiative. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks. The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project has faced many delays due to the risk of US sanctions on Iran. The project remains substantially delayed. While the Iranian section of the pipeline has been completed, the Pakistani section remains under construction and subject to delays owing to concerns with regard to the US sanctions on Iran.
