Govt extends digital census for fifth time

The federal government has failed to complete the digital census process once again and made an extension for the fifth time, ARY News reported on Friday.

After another extension, the digital census process will be concluded on May 15 now.

The population census was due to be concluded in early April but it was extended four times earlier.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that the seventh population census and first digital census of the country is underway. He said that some political parties raised objections to the digital census and the government invited the stakeholders to brief them.

He added that it seems that all people from far-flung areas were not counted and houses in some areas are being spotted through Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The latest extension was made to reach the remaining people not counted in the census.

Iqbal said that the government will remove the fault lines and appealed to the nationals to actively take part in the census.

Karachi police to probe DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son’s viral firing videos

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar ordered an inquiry after Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) East Azfar Mahesar’s son Asher’s aerial firing videos went viral on social media, ARY News reported. Earlier, video footage showed DIG Azfar Mahesar’s son brandishing different kinds of weapons and resorting to aerial firing in several videos posted on social media. Asher was seen in different locations, sometimes in a moving car, relentlessly conducting aerial firing. Speaking to ARY News, Lanjar said that he has ordered Karachi police to do a forensic examination of the videos and initiate action against DIG Mahesar if he is found guilty in the case. CJCSC addresses participants of 53rd PN Staff Course

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on Thursday visited Pakistan Navy War College Lahore and addressed the participants of the 53rd PN Staff Course. According to a press statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), the CJCSC expressed his views on the armed forces’ efforts in confronting the multifaceted conventional and non-conventional challenges.
