Three passengers diagnosed with monkeypox at Karachi airport

KARACHI: Three passengers have been diagnosed with monkeypox at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, ARY News reported on Thursday. The surveillance team of the Sindh health department carried out an action at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. Three passengers who arrived in Karachi from Libya were diagnosed with monkeypox. The Director General Health told the media that all three passengers were Pakistani citizens aged between 30 and 45. Police register FIR after double cabin vehicle runs over 4 of a family in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal

Karachi police on Thursday registered a first information report (FIR) of an incident in which a pickup truck rammed four members of a family earlier this week in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area. The CCTV footage of the incident, which has been making the rounds on social media, showed the fast-moving vehicle hitting a group of individuals, including young children, as well as a rickshaw. In a disturbing sequence, the driver can be seen fleeing the scene, only to return and run over the injured victims once again. Caretaker Sindh Home Minister, retired Brig Haris Nawaz, took notice of the incident and directed the police to provide a comprehensive report on the matter and apprehend the individuals involved in the case. Sindh Caretaker Finance Minister Younus Dagha issued orders to pay two-year dues of the serving and retired government employees. He also ordered to launch a mobile app for improving the services of district treasury offices. More than 20,000 retired government employees are facing difficulties due to non-clearance of dues for three years. HRCP fact-finding mission suspects Jaranwala rioters not ‘spontaneous or random crowd’

A fact-finding mission of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has suspected that Jaranwala rioters were not a “spontaneous or random crowd”, but were a part of a “larger campaign of hatred against local Christians”. On August 16, a violent mob of hundreds ransacked and torched nearly two dozen churches, and attacked the residences of members of the Christian community and the office of the local assistant commissioner in Jaranwala. According to estimates compiled by Faisalabad’s district administration, at least 22 churches ransacked by mobs suffered damages to the tune of Rs29.1 million whereas 91 houses which bore the brunt of violence suffered losses to the tune of Rs38.5m. ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday delisted September 5 cases, including a contempt case registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and others, ARY News reported. In a statement, the electoral watchdog has asserted that the cases – to be heard on September 5 – were delisted due to the unavailability of the bench. 8 dead, 1,090 injured in Punjab road accidents in 24 hours

LAHORE: At least eight people were killed and 1,090 others injured in 1,047 road traffic crashes in Punjab during the last 24 hours, ARY News reported. As many as 560 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 530 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rescue medical teams. The data analysis showed that 586 drivers, 33 underage drivers, 131 pedestrians, and 381 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 266 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 277 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by 84 in Faisalabad with 71 victims and at third Multan with 72 accidents and 81 victims. According to the data, 923 motorbikes, 63 auto-rickshaws, 96 motorcars, 24 vans, 12 passenger buses, 27 trucks and 95 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the road traffic accidents. 13 cops booked after weapons stolen from Lahore police station

LAHORE: The Lahore police department has booked 13 officers and personnel after five government weapons were stolen from the Township police station, ARY News reported on Wednesday. Five government weapons, Beretta pistols, have been stolen from the Lahore Township police station. The department registered a case against 13 police officers and officials following the directives of DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi.
