KARACHI: In one of the biggest robberies in the city, dacoits looted a house in Karachi’s Sachal area and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth over Rs10 million, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to the police, the incident took place in a house in Gulistan Society, located in Karachi’s Sachal area.

The family members say that relatives from abroad had come to the house due to a wedding, four suspects came in a white car, waited for the house to be empty and kept doing reiki.

The owner of the house claimed that the four dacoits, in a white car, first did a recce of the premises and waited for the house to be empty before executing their plan to commit the robbery.

The dacoits then barged into the house, remained there for over an hour and took away cash, including foreign currency, and jewellery worth Rs10 million.

The owner noted that they were hosting a number of relatives, who recently arrived from abroad, for attending a wedding.

Meanwhile, the police said that a case has been registered against the unidentified person while further investigation was underway.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks. The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project has faced many delays due to the risk of US sanctions on Iran. The project remains substantially delayed.
