Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, dismisses, quitting PPP

KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader, Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, refuted the reports of quitting the party, ARY News reported on Thursday.

Denying the circulating reports, Mansoor clarified that there is no truth to the news of his resignation from the party.

Mansoor explained that his mobile services faced disruptions in recent days due to his travels in the northern regions.

He highlighted that false information about his resignation was spread through a fabricated letter on social media platforms.

Mansoor asserted his right to pursue legal measures against individuals involved in the spread of false resignation propaganda.

Mansoor emphasized that he remains a committed member of the PPP and has no plans to quit near future.

Pakistan plans to transform optical fiber cable network into global digital gateway

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif on Wednesday said that the government had finalized a plan to transform Pakistan’s optical fiber cable network into a global digital gateway. The implementation of the proposed project would benefit Pakistan by millions of dollars, he disclosed while speaking in a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of key organizations, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Special Communication Organization, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), TransWorld, and CyberNet. He said that all the necessary resources and facilities had been provided for the digital gateway initiative. Progress made on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project

ISLAMABAD: Progress was made on Pakistan and Iran gas pipeline project as both countries agreed on reviving the stalled cooperation and formal contacts will be started within a few weeks. It is pertinent to mention here that Iran gave Pakistan time until September 2024 to complete the project, otherwise, it may move to international arbitration for the breach of contract. Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, the Chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Petroleum said that both sides will start formal contacts for the gas pipeline project within two to three weeks. The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project has faced many delays due to the risk of US sanctions on Iran. The project remains substantially delayed.
