A woman smuggling gold by stitching it as beads to her burqa has been arrested by authorities in Hyderabad, India.  Gold worth over Rs 41 lakh and weighing 350 grams were seized from a passenger at Shamshabad International Airport in Telangana’s Hyderabad, on Sunday. KHAIRPUR: At least 12 police officials including woman cops sustained wounds in a collision between a van and tractor-trolley near Pacca Chang on Mehran Highway, ARY News reported on Sunday. A private van carrying the police officials and a tractor-trolley collided head-on at Pacca Chang Mehran Highway, leaving 12 police officials including four woman cops injured. KARACHI: Gold continues its upward journey in Pakistan on a third consecutive day as per tola price increased by Rs100, ARY News reported on Saturday. Shahi Qila: Car drifting event held at int’l heritage site

LAHORE: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has once again violated the regulations defined for the international heritage site by granting permission to organise a car drifting event at Shahi Qila (Fort of Lahore), ARY News reported on Saturday. In a crowded event, the WCLA put an international heritage site at stake by allowing a dangerous car drifting event at Shahi Qila. Videos of the event have surfaced that exposed the lack of safety arrangements event for the people that could cause accidents at some moments.  While talking to ARY News, the WCLA director-general (DG) Kamran Lashari said that the authority was sought to organise a programme by the commissioner’s office, however, no information was given about the car drifting event. Lashari said that the authority took immediate action to stop it after coming to know about a car drifting event. A three-member bench of the top court headed by Justice Maqbool Baqir conducted the hearing of the case related to the abduction of Sobia Batool. Batool had been abducted from Sargodha in November 2021. The top court issued a two-page short order in the Sobia Batool abduction case in which the Inspector General (IG) Punjab has been directed to submit quarterly progress reports. During the hearing, the SC was told that 151 abducted girls have been recovered from Sargodha by police. The DPO Sargodha told the court that the girls were kidnapped for sexual crimes. Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday, issued the schedule for the by-election in NA 33 Hangu. According to a press release by the ECP, the polling for the vacant national assembly seat would be held on April 10, 2022. The deadline for submission of nomination papers is March 3, and scrutiny of the nomination papers would be completed by March 8. The ECP would allot electoral symbols to contenders by March 19.
